Found these 2 items in a small town in NC. The site is supposed to date back to the late 1700s so anything is possible.
First one is a "Marines" logo made of copper or brass. The front is the design and the back is just sort of hollow with a screw type pin sticking out of the back of the hollow area.
The second one is an old button I think? I dont know anything else about it other than I dug it from 10" down. There is no design that I can see on the front or back. It was bent almost in half when I found it. It is just slightly larger than a standard US quarter but only half as thick. You can make out a rim on the reverse and an indentation in the middle I guess where a button loop used to be?
Any ideas about either one of these items?
