I found this button at the same place I've been finding all of the dropped musket balls. I suspect it might have been a camp during the Rev War, but I'm not sure. Can anyone give me an approx age of the button. It seems to be iron on the front and brass on the back???? Is this typical? I've been soaking it in hot peroxide, but I need to do it a few more times. I feel like I see the number 5 on the button, but I'm not sure. Thanks for any insight!!

It looks iron. Have you tried electrolysis? Ask someone else in forum. We have some pro's in electrolysis who might be able to help bring this button back.
