Looks like someone's been in the pollen.

The apple trees are blooming and it's time for the bee's to do their magic.

We don't have many honey bees around, at least I haven't seen any wild ones for several years.

That's not good. I think they're now transporting bees to areas that have lower populations on the west coast for pollination. I think I saw on the news last summer where a truck hauling a load of bees wrecked and a bunch a bees got away.

We haven't seen a single wild bee yet this year, and by this time last year we had seen a few, I am afraid the wild hives are all but gone in our region.

I have a hive...albeit a small one. My bees are very happy right now. I have got capped brood, and daily orientation flights for the "newbees" . We just got a super about a month ago, as our last hive swarmed on us. My wife was heartbroken after all the hard work we put into it....then to get infected with mites, wax beetles.. Keeping a hive aint as easy as I thought it would be.

Nothing like harvesting your own honey though!!!

After 5 years of buying bees every year i figured i better take a year off. The price of bees are through the roof and to not get any honey. The winters here have been harsh for the bee keepers. Good luck with your bees
