It is 1 1/8 inches wide and made of brass or copper, looks somewhere in the middle. There are no tell tale signs of how it was mounted on the back. Any ideas? Art

By design influence it looks Renaissance / Florentine. Not to imply that its 15th Century. If 19th Century then its Renaissance Revival. Lobster tail helmet.
