Found this about two weeks ago before winter came back. Was buried beside an old trail in deep woods. There is a site nearby that turned up many British military items from 1812 period but I do not believe this is related. It's quite heavy and unsure of it's metal composition. Still has leather wrap. I know nothing about swords. My wife would rather have it kept outside. So it sits on my junk sleigh along with other found trash. Anyone know much about swords? Could be modern or old.

Thanks,

Bill

Interesting. Looks like an Asian style guard on the sword

Very Cool!!! Congrats!!!

Nice Save of the sword. (Looks like one to me). Let us know what you find out upon further investigation. If this turns out to be an Asian sword, I wonder if it could be a Japanese Samauri sword? My uncle had one hung over the door in a back bedroom of my Grandparents house that he brought home from WWII.

The slanted handle also.. like this
