Kanawha Black chert. Creeks I hunt are in the abandoned Teays River valley and are absolutely full of the stuff. Kanawha was deposited by the river which was dammed by an ice age around Chillicothe thousands, if not hundreds of thousands of years ago. The glacial lake made by this broke through and cut the modern Ohio-hence Mississippi drainage. I am in eastern West Virginia and I find football sized boulders of material from Narrows Virginia! The outcropping of Kanawha is about 30 miles upstream.
