Bullets? New, Old, ???

I have found 3 of these "bullets" on a civil war camp site. Does anybody know if they are some kind of new bullet? Shotgun slug? Blackpowder bullet?.....OR is it something that I am not even thinking about......

Thanks guys...thats what I thought it was. I just hadn't found a new one quite like them. I've found 3 of them now on this CW site....It wouldn't supprise me to find more...it looks like a good spot to deer hunt too...
