Bullet or tiny canister?

Found this yesterday (first pic has it leaning on a stack on 9 pennies -- SCORE!)

I don't know much about bullets. But it has the look, at least the shell portion. Any thoughts? If you need measurements, I can get those later. Thanks!

It's not a bullet, I'd say more likely the end cap from an antique pencil.

It does look like a bullet with an unfired primer, but the crimped (projectile) end is different from bullet I have ever seen before.

The black material in it looks burned......If it's baklelite or plastic it could be the end cap of an old fountain pen.....

Those are cool!! Your mom must've been stylish.

However, they look pretty straight up cylindrical, while mine tapers a bit (narrower toward the end where the exploding crud is coming out). I tried to capture that in the pics. Thoughts?
