New (sort of) to metal detecting. Played with toy ones before bit now live on my own 7 acres and decided to get a better one to poke around a bit. It came in yesterday and I had an hour of light so started in the fields. Found a Rem UMC 16 gauge shell head from early 1900s and this other thing. Thought it was a bullet first (definitely lead) but also read about lead from nail heads. Dont know of any prior structures (built before 1980s) that would have used lead capped nails. Ideas on if this is a bullet or something else?? Thanks in advance.

1st - I noticed this was your very first post - so, Welcome Aboard Icatchem925! You didn't list your state (or country) in your profile. So, you might consider jumping over to Sub-Forum: Select Your Area.... for information (i.e., clubs, hunts, finds, legends, maps, etc.) directly related to your state (or country).

Yes, they used a roofing type nail with lead ring for sealing on some old types of metal flashing or roofing, years ago.

Yep that's a tin roofing nail head washer.
I find bunches of them around here... They sound Sooooo good!

Your REM-UMC headstamp dates 1914-1937.
Another great find that sound great in the ground…

Yes it did sound very good. Nice high pitch beep. Lol. I'm not looking for gold tho.. old horse shoes or old farm stuff will make me happy. Think it's all pretty cool. Not that I'd turn my nose up at valuables tho. Lol. Thanks for the reply. Glad I found this place.
