Bought this mold a year ago from an estate sale in Loudon TN. Was found in the area and listed as a cw bullet mold. But the more i look at it i think it may of been Colonial or Cherokee indian made????. There is a Fort Named Fort Loudon on the river built by and housed by the English in the late 1700s but i dont think the mold was made by the English nor cw made. Have found no molds like it on any site to date.

Any clues? CW, Indian or maybe colonial. Seems to be made of soapstone? and 3 3/4 x 3 3/4 x 1 3/4 Thanks for looking and HH..

I agree--that would be the question of the hour. Is this item made of stone? Most certainly older than CW. I have never seen a bullet mold in stone.

That is really amazing! It would be interesting to pore some lead in that just to see what the caliber is. . . ???

Thanks all.I'm not very knowledgeable on bullets and cal-size. Holes are from 7/16 to 9/16 in circumference if this helps you at all. It is made of stone, thinking soap stone but not sure.

I think you outta pour some lead into it too... see whatcha get!

My initial thought is it's an Indian made mold used to make balls for the rifles they aquired or traded for... Makes perfect sense.

Having said that - if it can be authenticated, you might have a valuable piece there?? I have no idea - but it looks museum quality and you have both pieces.

My thoughts are one of a kind as well. And your right MJ, I need to have an expert look at it before I mess around and break it. I'm very close to the University of TN. I have had a CW Dealer offer me $300 for it, but felt it had much more history tied to it,to let it go like that..Will have to pour in the lead and see what we get. Thanks again. HH

Put a little vaseline in the mold and then shoot some acrylic calk into it and let it set up. Should pop right out when set and be a duplicate of whatever it is casting. Monty
