Found about 6-8 inches down under a large root of an oak tree. The woods borders an early to mid 1800s site. The casing has weird crimp marks at the bottom. The headstamp is readable but I find no matching stamps when searching. It has FC in the center of the head. I assume that's the Federal Cartridge Company from the early 1900s? It has rings inside and is short and fat. Large caliber? 20190407_200414.jpg20190407_200452.jpg20190407_200335.jpg

Looks like the end of an electrical fuse to me. no primer or rim.

Ha! Well that's funny. Looks a lot like a casing. I guess since I found several bullets in the area, I assumed it was a casing. Thanks!
