I was wondering if anyone knew the general age, info on this type of bullet. It has rings like a Minie Ball but is much smaller. I was thinking late 1800's DSC00806.JPGDSC00808.JPG

May i ask for a photo of the base and a photo with your scale showing the base size.Is there a dome in the base

It is slightly con-caved. It appears to have been fired. DSC00811.JPG

Off hand it looks like a 45 70 and with a dome base that is a trait of the sharps from the early 1880s But there are modern day bullet molds that have the dome also.If there are small teats inside the base, two teats is 350 grain, one teat is 500 grain. But with out true measurements this is kind of a guess.

Thanks for the info. I will say the area I have been detecting 'were I found this" has been nothing but mid to late 1800's no modern anything. Thats really cool,,, to have a good guess on what type of rifle fired it! I don't own a scale and seeing as its deformed i can't see how I would measure it. It is small, smaller then a modern 9mm
