Bullet Identification...Older Patina

Measured at a little under 18mm long and 8mm in width....

You need an accurate imperial measurement (not metric) of it's diameter to the .01 inch to get an ID.

You can see that it was fired by the rifling marks on it's side.

What does the bottom look like?

8mm is 0.314961 inches. A .38 caliber measures .357, so your bullet is to small for a .38 or even .36 or .32. My SWAG would be it was probably intended for a .30 caliber firearm, something like a .30-30. .30-30's have been around for 100 years. That's just a guess though. If you take that info, and put about $4 with it, you can probably get a cup of coffee at Starbucks.

.32 and .38 I think are good possibilities, judging by the number of old .32 and .38 casings I come across. Probably early 1900s or newer.

Length converts to roughly .7" or a little less than 3/4" if that helps.
