After visiting a few places to purchase NEW materials to build my own 4' x 20" recirculating sluece/highbanker (haven't decided yet) for next years prospecting ventures. I decided to check out a couple scrap yards in my area. To my complete amazement, I find expanded aluminum, sheet aluminum, and many other items to totally fabricate my own prospecting equipment. Although I didn't find everything I want at the scrap yards. I will have to buy some stuff like miners' moss (ribbed carpet at Home Depot works too) and ribbed rubber sheets. Both of which are fairly cheap as well.

I saved almost $700.00+ by going to my local, scrap yard "cache" instead of buying new or online. I kinda feel guilty for not supporting my fellow prospector stores. But, I don't have alot to spend and saved a bundle on my very own equipment. :headbang:

Watched a youtube video where the guy built a sluice out of a fallen try and got gold out of the creek with it. Now that was keeping it real.

Yeah, right? He's the man!!

I spent $26 on the aluminum sheets (3 - 4x24s) $3.68 on the expanded metal and other parts. Now I just need to find the pump, hoses, battery, etc. In all, I won't even break as much as a c-note. But hell, the tree thing sounds pretty good too. I already have tools for that.
