Me 51 years ago. Before osha. They would not let us wear safety belts. It slowed us down too much. It paid very well back then.

Thank-You for all your hard work helping create our power grid. Don't know how you could climb up that high and be comfortable. I couldn't do that...

thank you SD. I wasn’t always comfortable but after a lot of climbing you get confident. We were making $5.11 per hour big money back then. 77 years old now. Would love to live those days again.

Merf GREAT PICTURES thank you for building power grids. I almost get nose bleeds from just looking at your pictures 11Thanks again for sharing,
Do you remember losing any workers from falling ?

Thanks Gare. No , none died from falling. A few were injured. And a couple got electrocuted.

Thank you Georgeke

Merf when someone died on the job did they break up the team or just replace the person. Some place would break up the team and start s new one

Great shots of the good ol' days. Indeed there was many a contractor up in arms over those OSHA mandates beginning back then. It brings to mind this old image you'd see posted here and there on a jobsite. Seems we've always been pushing back on those who believe they know what's best for you. As for me I've always taken work safety seriously.
