Building my own GPR

I have a crazy idea about building my own ground penetrating radar using an anritsu VNA sitemaster
the design for the antenna is available on line, I just need to design the amplifier and an input circuit which sweeps the VNA at a rate equitable to the speed of the carrage,
what do you all think?
