Hello, I was digging at an old homesite today and found some stuff. My question is about a brass piece that looks like a buckle, but seems to thin, so i was just wondering if anyone had any ideas.

The other items in the picture are:
brass buckle
mystery buckle type item
very thin brass button
1913 dog tax tag
small brass button with mark "DOHERTYS PATENT" "T&S"

what do you think about the pictured item? Thanks!

It looks like a Victorian sash buckle. Nice find  Breezie

I'm thinking a lady's decorative fabric sash buckle. Take fabric, loop it through this end and back upon itself to lock it in, then it had another end where the fabric attached to the "hooking area." Looks like it had another one of those curved decorative pieces on it that would have been on the front that broke off. The clasp on the back would hook onto the other end in the little hooking area. Used to have them years ago so a lady could have a "self" (same fabric) belt without a lot of work. The ends could be used over and over with different outfits. Just a guess.

Which of the other items are you referring to as a thin button? From the top left to right it looks like a backing piece for a button, an acorn charm or medallion as it looks like an eyelet broke off from the top of the acorn, and perhaps half of another button or snap? Monty
