Bra strap buckle :laughing7:
Really though it's probably a suspender or possible a clothing buckle to a vest or something. Heck it might actully go to a bra strap for all I know. I would date it in the late 1800's to very early 1900's Just guessing though.

G, I think this is a buckle for a leg or arm brace, which would help hold the straps to the leg/arm or whatever was broken. I would say the time line would be mid 1800's.

"Braces" is an old-time word for "suspenders". According to Google and Petersen's Magazine, the Queen City Suspender Company was in business an 1882 in Cincinnati.

Agree. Back then, braces held up your pants and suspenders held up your socks.

DUDE, TRASH IT!!!!!!! Check out Queen City Suspender co. They made these. :o "Suspenders to hold menstrual pads (U.S.A., late 19th century) " They were in business in the 1870's. It's possible that Queen City Suspender co and Queen City Brace co are the same and the name was changed at some time. But it is also possible they aren't related at all. I couldn't find any info on Queen City Brace co.

I did a little more research on this and found a fair amount of information on how these things worked. Who knew... Necessity is the mother of invention, I suppose. Very unique find. I don't even know what else to say...

And wood wool. What is wood wool? Do you think it might attract woodpeckers? ::)

Wouldn't you know, when it rains, it pours. Today was my first MD-ing for 2010, and below is the very first thing I dug!!! I found it only fitting to hi-jack G's post by adding it with his buckle.

Here's what I've found out so far about our 3 'ole hussies.' LOL It's a rare Victorian Condom tin(1800s-early 1900s) named after the 3 ladies (and I use that term loosely) who made the condoms: Agnes, Mabel, and Beckie. They were made to be REUSEABLE! That just beat the WOOD SHAVINGS in my opinion; lol.
