Got out today, first time in a while. Is this a shoe buckle and if so, how old? :dontknow:
horse tack, the curve look's like it should face you? bk
are the edges beveled on the inside of the curve.

Yes the inside curve part is beveled. So, does this clinch horse tack? I was hoping human buckle. :(

I agree, but one thing that is different. I found an end with a broken edge and a groove. What could have been attached at the end?

Also, one side has a sharper angle than the other. I took a picture with a straight edge to show teh difference. Seems something may have been attached to the side also, but isn't clear. :icon_scratch:

We have some buckle experts here but I am definitely not one of them, but I agree, old colonial. Im thinking a trapezoidal spur buckle. Nice find. http://www.reenactor.ru/ARH/PDF/Whitehead.pdf

Correct, can't tell if its a copy very easily, but from the photo it looks OK :icon_thumright:
