Hello, hope you are all well and staying safe.

I found this very simple looking buckle in an old farm field. Note - the pattern in the first pic is just dirt there is no actual pattern, its very plain.

Can anyone identify this or date it?

Thanks

Ah man, .... and I was I was stoked. I thought I was going to be reading about mail order brides for "Buckles" (instead of Mr. Bean)!:laughing7:

There are some sites out there for putting an age to buckles.
Start your Google search with "Vintage Brass Buckles from (the region where your find was made)". (or whatever the metal is.)
Congrats and best of luck.

ps. I got lucky and found a San Miguel buckle (ca. 1715) last year.

I agree since CRUSADER is well versed. For some reason, I didn't even see his reply.

You're welcome and thanks. Mine was only down about 4 inches but had been moved around by a front end loader and someone digging with a shovel.

Thanks I have that book. I will dig it up.

Good date range, CRUSADER.
The buckle can be straitened to some extent, but leave it is, as I'm
always amazed at the contortions our relics acquire..., being in the ground that long.....
