buckle collector help needed

a cheap $75.00 ebay one
ok well saw it on ebay and was cheap so i figured i would give it a shot
i paid $1.25 to get this lol
so if it junk or good in not going to be too upset .
looks to be brass and pretty big approx 3 in x 6 in

was told his dad found it mding in washington park in NY
his dad thought 1800's the guy i bought it from said no idea though so he was fair

so hopefully some one can help me get an idea of use and date

It could certainly be anytime 1800s... or newer.

I believe it's a common horse tack buckle missing the little center pin. It's a well worn piece... :)

thats what i was wondering if i could be ,yeah pins missing but interesting none the less

Well... you could have spent 10 bucks in gas to drive someplace and detect - finding the same thing... :D

It's still cool.. ;)
