Hey this is my first day as a member of the site and I certainly don't pretend to be an expert but that looks a lot like the old hooks that my great grandfather used to use to help move logs with. It had a handle with a curved hook on the end and it would be stuck in the butt end of a small log to help pick it up or roll it. Just my thought

Looks like it could have been used to step up on to something, perhaps a wagon. As it has a curved end maybe it flipped up to get out of the way when not being used. Nice shield nickel too. I found an 1867 a few weeks ago and it was only my second shield nickel in over 30 years of hunting.

I almost agree with you, kinda looks like an Ice hook or something like that of what you explained...

Keep @ it and HH !!

Good call on the ice hook. I know where I grew up they were used for logs, hay and ice. Several variations but the design is pretty consistent. Here's an image of an older one.

I can't take credit for this but I just saw Creskol solve something really similar to this on the What is it Forum....attachment.jpg

the buckle reminds me of one that might have been part of a cowboy outfit for kids, early 50's looking to me. looks like it had something figural attached to the front at one time

Found this neat buckle that measures around 3", not sure about what it was used for or time period, However the coin from 187?, I can read the last number, so I assume it is about that age. Any idea what the iron thing was use for? it is about 10" long. Any help on age or identification would be great

Thanks

Looks like what u use to pick up hay bales
