I got up early this morning and headed off to a site that I found about 2 miles up on a ridge. Thought it could potentially be virgin and it was. Not as old as I normally like to hunt but lots of good targets and it was a fun 5 hours of hunting. All of the coins and buttons were found within a 20 by 20 area next to an apple tree. I found my first old key today, 2 in fact. One was in the middle of nowhere and has a 47 on it. Love these old keys. I also found my first v nickel. An 1889 in terrible condition. All of the LCs are pretty ugly as usual for around here. The LCs are 1807DB, an 1816, and an 1854. I thought I had a holed LC but can't see anything on it. Found a ton of buckles today and am assuming that most are horse or oxen related. One is very tiny and has 2 tiny prongs on it. I found 5 flat buttons and one has a little design on the back. Sorry bout the crappy pics but took a sharp stick in the ear and just wanted to hit the couch when I got home. Some of the coins are still in the hp. The indian head has nice detail and pretty high relief. I found that there yesterday morning when I was there for about 20 minutes and got called out for some work issues. Thanks for looking guys. All the best, Abe image-478144152.jpg image-316937735.jpg image-913515321.jpg image-1669857210.jpg image-1373730387.jpg image-1342557222.jpg image-2373660156.jpg image-2883266095.jpg image-2223100858.jpg image-1095625405.jpg image-4097352117.jpg image-664958466.jpg

Nice finds.... you got some good grounds there...

Love the old keys...for some reason I really like keys and old locks.

Just curious...did that stick come out the other side ?

It could have if I hadn't felt it in time :-) nothing to block its path in there. Thought I poked my eardrum out at first. Didn't feel all that good but when you're finding targets you just keep going

HAHA...ya ..I hear ya..when ya get the scent it takes a lot to distract you from the hunt.

But the ears are sensitive..never any fun.

Great finds! I assume this might be an old hotel? I really like that "47" key. Have found a couple like the other but never like the numbered one. Hope your ear is ok. Great pics.

Ha ha. You're damn right it is! I'm tired of these copper coins. Where the hell is my silver at anyway. Where?

You'll also get tired of my picture because I'm going to post it every time until you dig a Spanish silver. :laughing7:

Ahab I would give anything to find some large cents down here in Vegas! Lol
Ray I'd be happy to send you a couple of mine. The soil is normally not kind to them around here. You're doin just fine digging silver bro. Keep it up

funny, lm so used to finding silver every week don't no what I am going to do when my luck runs out.lol. don't worry your silver is just saving itself in a cache for you to find. Great keys by the way. Congrats.

You had a good day, don't knock the coppers...way better than no old coins. ?
I believe your "tiny two pronged" buckle is colonial, and certainly for people, undergarments, probably ladies.

I got one a couple year back, and was IDed (with book pictures as such.)

Nice finds indeed, I heard through the grapevine that your Spanish Silver is a coming your way real soon :occasion14:. Besides you don't want to tire IP out with his pictures :laughing7:

Rick thank you for the id. Trust me I'm so happy to be finding old coppers and never imagined I'd be finding the stuff I've found in the first year. My buddy just said don't ever expect silver and just be happy when it shows up. Today was fun and the first time I've dug more keepers than trash. Awesome day. Hoping to get to a couple of my 1600s sites soon
