Hello, I found these items; 1870s home site.

I think the first is a buckle. Is it horse-related? What time period? What can I clean it with?

The other has me stumped. It looks like a lid of some sort but then it looks like it was part of a case with two compartments; the smaller one with its lid intact, and perhaps the larger lid missing. Thinking maybe cosmetic related? Anyone see it before? Thanks!

The buckle is possibly off a halter or bridal head stall. To small for the most part, for other types of harness.

Thanks, BosnMate! I thought it was kind of small. Maybe a human's belt buckle too?
