Legend with small coil, ~ 10 inches down, used M2 to initially ferret out weak high-tone whispers, then 4khz to zero-in. This penny, along with 3 silver Mercury Dimes and 11 pre 1930 cents were discovered in a heavily hunted area. Seems like the Legend is sniffing things out like a Blood-hound. 🐕 The Legend 'opens-up' a new deeper layer.

Are you finding deeper targets with the smaller coil? Haven't used in much. 1.09 seems to have improved my signals a good bit, but only been out once since uploading. Missed all of August due to covid.

Yes, the smaller coils is what I used. I went back with the largest available coil (a bit heavy) and found an additional two wheat cents.

The smaller coil seems to hit targets just as deep as the stock coil. Air test may prove otherwise, but I am very happy with the depth delivered by the small, round coil.

Thanks. One hears a lot of theoretical discussion, good to hear about actual usage. I'm sure there are some other field experience threads that I can track down. I need to study up on what conditions call for the smaller coil. Tight spaces being the main one I think of. I can see where using the right coil would mean a lot more than which of the many great detectors you use.

I like using the smaller coil in trashy environments, where bottle caps, nails, pull tabs are in abundance

Agreed, the 6" coil is a great little sniper for the Legend.
