He looks like "damn, those things on my head fell off!"Young buck on trail cam looks like he shed his antlers probably late February. In a month or so will go look for sheds in this area.
He sure does Chilli... Here the "bigger bucks" start to grow antlers mid April 12 - 14 which are just bumps. By mid May 15 - 26 the antlers are pushing past the ears in width and growing upwards. By mid June 13 - 22 the antlers are starting to fork. By August 25 - 30 the antlers are fully grown. Usually in September they start to rub off the velvet. It's just amazing that in a short 5 1/2 months the antler growth is complete. He looks like "damn, those things on my head fell off!"
But seriously, how long do they typically take to regrow to full size?
That is a very cool sequence.Over the years I have been fortunate to get on video the start to finish of a buck's antler growth on several bucks. The attached picture shows a buck named notch ear (his left ear has a notch) staring from April 15 to almost fully grown on August 04, 2016.
