The benefits of GPS mapping means when you think you have covered the area you can check with the last find. We did this for Brooch Field & found the last coin was still within the edge of the scatter. So we returned to finish it off, which took us just over 3 hours. We then moved to Copse Field which I had already scouted without much success, so I wasn't that optimistic, until we started gridding.:laughing7:

Brooch Field;

14 Roman Bronze Coins
1 Grotty Roman Silver of Honorius
6 Roman Brooches - 1 Nice Plate type we need.
1 Celtic Fibula
1 Celtic Loop to a Toggle
1 Roman Bracelet bit
Roman Iron Locking Mechanism
Romano-Celtic Strap-Fitting (Type I've never seen & can't get a match for)

Copse Field;

27 Roman Bronze Coins - 1 good one
1 Celtic Bronze Unit - Dias circa 10AD
Half a pair of Roman Tweezers
Roman Fibula
Roman Nail Cleaner
Roman Lion Mount (box stud)
Broken Roman Stone Loom Weight (a first)
Roman Clay Pottery Kiln Bar bit

Another killer day!

That was really a killer day! :occasion14: Awesome.

Yours looks like it's been in stubble burning when they used to do it:unhappysmiley: still plenty of good back up finds :icon_thumleft:

SS

Wow great pile of finds! Are you sure that broken holed stone is Roman? It looks like a Neolithic/early bronze age item to me.

Man I think all your hunts are killer! Nice finds! :icon_thumleft:

I know what you mean, when I looked down, I thought the same thing. However, it's right in the middle of the Roman hot-spot & if your look up Stone Loom weights, It makes sense.

Great day, congratulations! :occasion14:

Yeap, you've gone very quiet, I thought maybe you gave up after the 50,000+ hoard of coins...lol

Fantastic finds, Cru. I am scheduled for a week-long hunt in March 2019, near Colchester. If I find anything resembling your treasures I will be ecstatic! Sub 8-)
