The benefits of GPS mapping means when you think you have covered the area you can check with the last find. We did this for Brooch Field & found the last coin was still within the edge of the scatter. So we returned to finish it off, which took us just over 3 hours. We then moved to Copse Field which I had already scouted without much success, so I wasn't that optimistic, until we started gridding.
Brooch Field;
14 Roman Bronze Coins
1 Grotty Roman Silver of Honorius
6 Roman Brooches - 1 Nice Plate type we need.
1 Celtic Fibula
1 Celtic Loop to a Toggle
1 Roman Bracelet bit
Roman Iron Locking Mechanism
Romano-Celtic Strap-Fitting (Type I've never seen & can't get a match for)
Copse Field;
27 Roman Bronze Coins - 1 good one
1 Celtic Bronze Unit - Dias circa 10AD
Half a pair of Roman Tweezers
Roman Fibula
Roman Nail Cleaner
Roman Lion Mount (box stud)
Broken Roman Stone Loom Weight (a first)
Roman Clay Pottery Kiln Bar bit
Another killer day!
