Brooch? Decoration? Thing....

Not sure what this is...I think its some sort of silver or silver plated decoration because of it's color. Any ideas?

Bronze? None of the silver I've dug has turned that color. And brass would be greenish. As to the pattern all I can think of is Gemini (the twins). Although I could be wrong on both of my thoughts. Purpose: I don't know. What size is it and what does the back look like? Any attachment device?

The bottom picture is the back...It's hard to see because it is the concave mirror image of the front. I can't find my ruler so...I layed it on top of a dollar bill (pic too big to post)...the thing just covers the portrait of Georgey boy. Also it is a little difficult to see because the right side of it is bent a little out of shape, but these two people appear to be mermaids to me. As for a time frame Im not sure. The site is that of a bulldozed hotel that was active from the late 1700s until about 1950...I know not much to go on. As far as attachments, there appears to be none.

Still nobody has any ideas on this thing? I've seen silver turn black. I have a feeling that if it is silver thought that it is a plating.
