[Solved] Bronze Spike?

I recently found this on the beach and have some ideas, but I'm not sure. Anyone know what I have here? The item has age and green corrosion, but I'm wondering how old and if it was used to hold the ships wood in place? Thanks!

Yes you are correct, it was used in ship construction and the head is broken off and/or it broke in the middle as some were up to 12" long. Very commonly used throughout the 17th - 19th century. You should do a little research for your area and see what known shipwrecks are nearby and the year they went down, something that dense doesn't travel real far from the resting place of the hull. Nice find ;-)

I found a bronze square nail at the beach in Battle Rock, OR, and assumed it was from a boat. Certainly something nautical anyhow.
