Here is an artifact that has baffled me for a long time , so l decided to see if anyone here has any ideas or clues.. it was found on farmland in the UK where l have found things from Celtic , Through to modern times, it looks Roman to me but could be any time. overall the piece is 2 inches at it's longest. any thoughts would be welcome. Hutch.

Interesting item. Not sure what it is either, but feel it is old. I can definitely picture a celtic emblem that has been broken in the middle, and feel that something else would have socketed into it on either end. Maybe a fence post or flag pole decorative element? Good luck.

Small heater with holes for ventilation? For what I don't know, but that's as good as I can guess...
But I agree with the suggestion above that the shape could have been Celtic. A spiral triskele or triskelion; The Meanings, History and Origins of Ancient Irish Celtic Symbols | Carrigdown Irish Crafts

Triskele, yes, heater no.:laughing7: It does look as if the ends were meant to slide over something though. What would a good Celtic pagan put that on? If logic is to be figured in at all, I would say that it was meant to be viewed from one or maybe two (opposite) directions, but not for omni-directional viewing. If it didn't matter, the thing could more easily have been slipped over a round rod/cylinder. Having a rectilinear cross-section would imply that it was meant to be "locked" into position. Could it have been the middle, decorative section of some sort of flag or staff? Or maybe it was on a fence picket or gate post. Interesting object whatever it is.

It may be Pagan. dont know if there were Pagans in your area. Mabe the Germanic Pagans. they used round symbols like this that had snakes in a circle like that could those parts in the middle be snakes
