A little additional help please. Why does the top photo show the object with a blunt end, while the second photo shows it as a point?
What country or area was this found?

The 2nd pic is taken from the top view. They are the same.

I would say that it is not an axe. I've never seen one that was hollow. Looks more like a finial, like for a flag pole topper, to me.

Does seem to be a socketed axe, like from the bronze age. More commonly had a loop to tie a rope to which secured it to an L shaped wooden handle.

I'm no expert on celts & axes; but one thing I do notice in looking myself and following all the links so far is that the nose is invariably wider than the socket.
