looks like it could be....sure is intersting looking. Most of the old pipes I saw were made out of different material then metal...definitely an interesting find....surely someone will come along with an "it is" for ya! lol

Ok, I should have checked my suspicion before I posted this. When you hunt all day sometime we put these things in our pockets not remembering that when these pop out it wasnt the tone we were digging. I just turned on "sir Etrac" and, no tone. must be clay!~ sorry....

I believe that is part of a pipe. I looked at the inside of the ones I have and that is just what the hole looks like between bowl and stem. Here is a good link about them maybe you can match it to one. I think also the stem part of yours may have a piece broke off so it may have had a ring shape going around the end of the stem. Mine have mold seams top and bottom that go around the edge of the stem part.

Is that the original stem? If so how long is it?

It is most certainly a broken piece of a colonial era pipe. Trade pipe, perhaps, yes.

It's the original, it's 8" long ,wood. many years ago my home town had a Urban Renewal project. Thats where they go in and tear down all the historic buildings and put in low income housing. Friend of mine found a cigar box full of these in the bottom of a drug store and gave me this one

Thanks, that is very cool I have never seen one with stem.
