Both nice points. I found a little over 1 set of matching halves a year when I was field hunting heavily. I've never found matching halves hunting water.

hi joe,
thanks for the reply.all my points well 98 percent come from the water.i just really enjoy it when i match one up,maybe better than finding a killer.i hate it when i turn a killer into a broke though, did it once to my veterns day find,it was a really nice cobbs even red white and blue shows in it.024.JPG i need a better camera, santa

Ha! I've only ever turned a whole into a broke once and the absolutely amazing part was a never could find the tip half. I found 4 or 5 points on the water and had stopped back in at work to show a buddy in the parking lot. I dropped a ~1.5" red glossy hopewell point and snapped in right in the middle. We looked for 30 minutes and could find a 3/4" bright red glossy triangle in the middle of a black asphalt parking lot. To this day I can't understand why we couldn't find the tip.

im sorry to hear that twitch,it could have bouced up and landed on one of you guys, around the top part of your shoes, tell me what parking lot,ill find it for ya,lol.some things are just ment to be i guess, but to be the one to pick something up thats been perfect for soooo long and break it :BangHead:.

Nice finds Jamey. I think we all have broken them ourselves or handed it to someone to look at and it get dropped. I have yet to find the other half to anything but then I 90% water hunt.

This reminds me, I've got a small box full of broken pieces that I've always wanted to go through and see if I could find any matches. It's one of those things that is so easy to put off.....

I have rules when I allow someone to handle any of mine.....One at a time, a large piece of foam under their hand, don't raise more than two inches (use your neck damnit). I ask whomever to open their hand, I remove from the case and place it in their palm, I ask them to turn the artifact with their opposite hand and when the viewing is complete, I remove from their hand and place it back in the case. Anyone that does a thrusting action is respectfully denied the chance to handle anymore. All of this is said up front before the case is opened.

I have the same project on the back burner. One of these days. I keep all of my pieces in boxes. Each box is a hunting ground. If I mixed them, I could never get a match. I'm tired, and read this fast. Where you said "I have a small box", I saw "small pocks". Instantly started rereading. Lol!!

I only allow fellow enthusiast to handle my best pieces. Funny thing is, I have a beautiful Folsom point that my dad found. For years, neither of us knew how precious it was. We had it sitting in the wide open on an old desk at the entrance of our business. I have seen pops use it as a paper weight time and time again. Several years ago, I started reading into this piece due to a customer making a big deal of it. Shortly after that it went into a case in a safe. It is flawless, even after every one and their cousin has handled it. Now that I realize I'll probably never find another one of those in my life, I'm sure it would get broken.

Nice finds and clean breaks.Heres the 1st one I ever matched up.
