Found this in a farm field in Rhode Island that dates back to the 1700s. I’ve never found anything like this but the only thing I can think of that it might be is the end of a broken apostle spoon. Looking for any help in an ID. Thanks for looking 0CD4A6B9-8B5B-459E-BB9F-F83B22C91ECB.jpeg8C8C1D4F-4601-4044-B285-B993FAF8D595.jpeg4B73BEF9-F860-47B1-BC2B-754656650721.jpeg4B73BEF9-F860-47B1-BC2B-754656650721.jpeg2271DEAC-45E3-470A-81BC-A6176C3CF32D.jpeg

Hard to tell but looks old and really cool hopefully some one will ID it

I agree with Tommy, this piece has some age to it.
I had to crop and brighten it to get a clearer picture on what the figure was.

It looks to be made of iron, wouldn't an apostle spoon usually be made of silver, pewter or brass? :icon_scratch:

It’s definitely not iron, there’s no rust on it, just that thick patina. Most examples of apostle spoons I’ve seen online are silver or silver plated and the examples I did find were mostly of an entire figure at the end of the spoon not just the head. I’m lost on this one, never seen anything like it.

I saw the silver & silver-plated examples you're referring to online as well, so your piece must be brass that was originally plated.
I'm wondering if it might be a 19thc souvenir spoon bought at a fair or an exhibition? :icon_scratch:

Hope you get clarification on this,
Dave
