fOUND TODAY LOOKS REAL OLD.SMALL WINDOW HAS GLASS BUT LOOKS LIKE A QUATER SIZE PEICE OF GLASS INSIDE like it flips out to one side.

I found something similar this summer. . . possibly the remains of a compass & magnifyer.

I agree, I have one of those kicking around here somewhere, I think it was a boy scout thing, survival gear
compass if you got lost, glass for starting a fire
