I was showing Pitdigger's Son #1 the relics I dug earlier this week, the same spot I found the 1790s Diplomatic button.. and showed him one of the little cuff button I dug..it looked like something was one it when I first dug it.. but when I dry brushed it.. I thought it was just corrosion and it went into a bad with everything else until i can sort it out later.. well... his keen eyes spotted a Crown on the top of the button!! and what might be a "33".. it is hard to make out in the picture.. i am going to setup my real camera later and try to get some better shots.. but here is the first go around.. when the light hits it just right.. you can see the crown!!

I added a slightly better picture... you can see the outline of the crown a little better in this one...

Are you sure it's a crown, even if so without anything else to go by you'll never ID it.

Not flat so you're looking at 1790s up.

yes, it is a crown.. the lighting really sucks!! There is also part of a oval looking device on the front that matches up to quite a few buttons I found posted. The 1790s fits perfectly.. I found this about 10 feet away form the 1790s diplomats button.. and yeah.. I have little hope of matching it up to a regiment..

thanks..

The problem is small town British militia types can show up in the mix and if you have one of those you might be looking for a long time. That's beside the point that many early military buttons are close in design.

It may be 1812 Royal Regiment of Artillery, they're common and often come out in poor condition.
