Found this at a park in California. Cleaned it up and looked up the button. Wierd to find a British button here in California.
Thoughts on how it got here? 20180911_181912.jpeg20180911_204502.jpegScreenshot_20180911-204825.jpeg

That is a good story how ever it got here Nice relic

If there is a current or former U.S. Military base nearby, it may have been lost by a British Officer who was getting some training during WWI or maybe even later.

There was an Air Base used especially for blimps/zepplins about 10 miles away.

After the crash of the worlds largest aircraft, the Macon, the Navy traded the Naval Air Station to the Army.

The ARMY then used it as a base from 1935 to 1940 with about 5,000 enlisted.

Two years later, Moffett Field became the West Coast training center for the Army Air Corps, the predecessor to the U.S. Air Force.
Then Pearl Harbor happenned....

So possibly British came there to train while it was an army base and not an air base?

Or a Brittish officer or family of an officer moved to this area after service.

There were plenty of British (and French) military advisers on US soil during WWI & WWII. No reason they wouldn't be in California observing troops.

Tell us where the park is located and we may be able to give you more info.

amazing read rip that area up

Very nice find.Congrats :icon_thumright:

Your the 2nd US poster to post one of these types in the last couple of weeks. I think I have seen others turn up there as well. Must be a good reason.

Interesting, I will try to find that post, was it in today's finds?
Thanks!
