✅ SOLVED British Crown? id help needed....

Found yesterday in a place we've been digging mostly early 1800's items, some war of 1812 military buttons and early coins.

First image is a split shot showing front and back, the back looks like it has a hook on it.

I believe it is brass.

Looks to be an early 1800s British Crown from the top of a military cap badge.

Looks like it's the top of a Rev War period cartridge box plate. If you can find the rest even as a repaired piece it would be a great find.

Here's one I dug over 10 years ago, but just because I have found one don't think it's anywhere near common. Any Rev War plate is very rare to find, and fairly rare in general. I would hunt that place hard!


PS: Mine was found at a site with mostly 1812 relics but a few Rev War buttons did turn up.

we have found quite a few sweet pieces from this field, I believe there was an encampment there just for the amount of stuff we have dug, bad news is the field is now being planted and we will have to wait to the fall to find anything else. Thanks again!

Good luck to you. The plow most likely did the damage which means the rest is probbaly there somewhere.

Spot-on, I knew the Crown was Pre-Vicky but didn't consider a box plate, I have never seen any turn up here.
