Well kids this one was not our typical day in the pits. Ya see, we rarely come across a brick lines privy in our neck of the woods but when we do it usually takes us back to the 1850s to 1870s. This one however turned out a ton of ABM bottles. Stuff that I just don't care to see too much of unless they are milks. But what the heck. So I kept up the dig and didn't care how deep it was cause I was by myself and no chance for a cave in. About 4 feet down I'm tossing dirt out to the top when I look down and see a shimmer of hope in this kinda hopeless privy. The glint of gold!!! So I bend down and in the pile of night soil and debris out pops a beautiful 10K gold ring with a sparkling gem. Looking into it further it appears to be a Perigot gem for the month of August. All I can say is Wow!!! What a turn of events in a rather dismal privy. High hopes turned into well, high hopes!!! I also popped out a Pontiac token out of the debris as well. Just goes to show you ya gotta keep your glasses clean and your else's peeled for any surprises that me glimmer!! Until next time, here's to finding gold, even without a detector! Jgas.
