Sometimes lead was melted from CW breastplates. Could've gotten tossed in a fire and easliy melted away. The Royal Fusiliers insignia is a flaming cannonball, is that what I'm seeing on your piece? Many fusilier units adopted the flaming cannonball. Some of the hats used in the early 1800s had a large insignia on them, so it may not be a breast plate. Certainly worth looking into.
