Brass:
Found on a lot of a house that was built in 1962.
Not to far from downtown Raleigh, NC. so i`m not sure if there was anything there before the house.

Small hole measures 9/16inch. ID
Large hole measures 1-1/4inch. OD
1-9/16inches tall.
1/8inch wall.
Tapered inside and out.
With no threads or markings anywhere.

My first thought was a candle topper.
There are no churches nearby.

Thanks for any help in advance.
Bill

Nice whatizs I see you have some accurat measurments listed but for a old coal miner with quite a few beers in him it would still be nice to have a penny or something for reference. Is it to big to be a slip sinker. Hell i dont know.

Yeah, a reference point might help, Bill. Also, how much did it weigh. It was brass wasn't it?

Ok mr. North carolininian. Chances are, Raleigh is a very old city so, chances are there probably was something else on the dirt you found this thing. I don't think what you have found is all that old. It almost looks like a leather punch we would use as kids. But, it could be anything man. You say that it is brass...it's probably just a piece of plumbing....I don't know without a penny or something next to it on our end it could 100 feet long we would never know. lol

1-1/2" Candle Burner. That`s a biggen Bob/ rwsnc

4-H staff, brass items seem to come out of the ground for me with little corrosion even after 158 years as this 1851 Union Officers sword plate has.

I`ll never know how old it is.

Thanks for looking and your reply`s everyone and HH.
