Brass Vial &Thingie

I'm currently detecting a site dating between the 1920s and 50s and have come across two items which look vaguely familiar but which i can't put my finger on.
The first is a brass tube with a fitted lid on one end which has an iron spike inside. The other end is open but is threaded possibly for another lid. It looks like a cross between a giant mascara container and a gun oil vial.

The other item is a small brass piece which I think may come from a belt or military webbing.

Re: Brass Vial &Thingie

I think those are probably both gun related.

The buckle looks to be from a rifle sling to me, most likely military.
