Brass Unicorn ???

Well I was digging in a CW and Colonial Campsite and dug up a small Brass Unicorn. Didn't expect that!
I don't know what it was used for.. It has a hole in the base which is threaded. I though it might be a button hook without the hook. I have seen a museum replica online very similar. Any thoughts on what it was for and what time period?? Thats a dirty quarter for reference. Thanks guys!

This is a vintage brass music box with a Solid brass unicorn on top of brass music box.

it rotates as it plays the song "born free". It has a very nice tone.

It is in very good and working condition.

It measures 5 inches tall and 3 inches in diamater; and it weighs 8.5 oz.

It appears to be from the late 1960's or early 1970's
