Brass thingamajig or whatchamacallit

Found this at an old housespot in orange va , its heavy brass, could it be a canteen spout. Someone told me maybe off a sword scabbard where it slides in. Thanks for looking

My vote is "whatchamacallit" or maybe part of an old spyglass...A brass trim of some kind, that was in a circle shape at one time.
