Hey guys....I have one for you. I've found four of these things over the last three years at the same sight.
The grid squares in the picture are 1/4"
This item is made of brass. Its 5/8" high and 9/16" at the base. It has a dimple on the top.
The bottom has a 1/16" rim. Inside the rim is a concave surface with a 3/16" , 1/8" deep hole in the center. From this hole there is a channel that extends to the rim.
I found it at a colonial site where I've found two Connecticut coppers and many other period artifacts so I'll put a date of 1790-1820 on it.
