Brass switch? What-cha think?

Nana40 suggested I post this here... So why not?

It's a brass late 1860s - 1890s piece. I believe it to be a turn knob for either a lamp or a light switch, a turning drawer-pull of sorts, or possibly an antique doorbell crank switch... I dunno. It does have some house paint on it so I'm sure it was a household-located item.

Yes, it seems something has broken/snapped off at the end of the shaft portion.

Any opinions?

I was thinking possibly from a gaslight valve. Here's one I found last year.

I got it too PBK... Thanks a ton as usual :) And thanks all of you helping.

CASE CLOSED!

This is a doorbell "switch" to twist, which also came as a bell pull-knob.

Thanks PBK, I found it using search way. Thanks mojjax too, but I was to late/slow to find it that way.

Now that you posted that link, I remember them clearly.
