Found this spoon across the Potomac River on the VA. side..Been doing some researching on the town across the river in the pic and find out the bluff was an artillery point during the civil war.Appearantly this poor town got hammered by the south from this bluff. There's nothing up there now,not yet,but I was wondering if this spoon might fit the era,put it under some electrolysis for a couple hour's and a soft wire brush, came out looking pretty good.Any idea's...HH!!

lmao,,,,,,,,, here we go again.... ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D there is no spoon....

cool find there, why are you thinking brass ?

Any marks on the back of the handle? Quite a bit of 19th and early 20th century flatware was silverplated brass.

Hey PBK...the only thing "I think" I can read is just barely visible, need the magnifying glass for this one,But it might say "dyed silver" if there is such an animal. There's more but it too worn, have no idea....Thank's

Nice Nice Nice find! Havent found a brass one yet, but both Seeker and I have found lead ones! :) :P

That is one nice spoon there Civilman1............But there must be a mistake.....hmmmmmmmmmmm , I'm trying to remember a lead spoon! All I'm having is visions of lead dropings!!! lolol Nice job! Civilman ;)

Oh no.....here we go again......Civilman, did you have to say the word *spoon*?? Maybe next time just use the term, liquid dispensing device, and we'll avoid the lead spoon debate. :P

I have found a silverplated brass spoon before. Maybe yours was plated.

The more and more I try and find something on brass spoon's,the more I'm convinced it was silver plated at one time.Appreciate the response's,and next time it will be reffered to as a "LDD".....Thank's Lisa and HH!!
