Looks like one of those screwdrivers within a screwdriver, but the big blade is missing. See if you can unscrew the top and there should be two smaller screwdrivers inside. If that isn't it, looks like the handle off an early model shaver with the shaving head missing. I had one in the service that held a "Gillette Blue Blade". (I suppose if I make enough guesses you might get it?) :D :D Monty

I've seen similar brass handles on old safety razors, as Monty notes— and also on magnifying glasses.

There is threading on the open end shown...I too thought it was a shaver handle. My pop had a shaver like you mentioned but it was made of some other light weight material. This handle is heavy! I'll try lubricating it to see if it unscrews. Thanks guys.

I had guessed the razor handle on my second try and the more I looked at it the more familiar it looked. The one I had was heavy and also made of brass circa 1962. I'm sure they made them several years before that however. The older ones used a single edge blade and the one I had used a double edged blade. "Safety razor" was what they called them but they would cut the heck out of you if you didn't hold the angle just right. I was always going around with little dabs of toilet paper stuck all over my face on the nicks and I well remember that steptic pencil used to stop the bleeding. Ouch! Darn thing stung like fire, hurt worse thatn the nick! Monty

My pop still uses the double edged blade... You can tell when he is in a hurry or just before switching blades from all the dabs of toilet paper on his face ;D
