brass 'RR' logo mystery(?)
I was out earlier today in an old park, now a baseball park in Blairsville, PA.
I uncovered, about 4" down, what appeared to be a brass lid.
It also had a thin layer of glass on the inside that was broken and fell out as I lifted it out. I have no idea what it is, and why it would have a layer of glass on the inside of it? It has the letters 'RR' stamped on the inside and outside with a backwards 'R' and a normal 'R'.
Anyone have any idea what it is?
I have attached pictures.
A few thoughts are some kind of logo? something off a guage? RR= Railroad? RR=Rolls Royce? RR=??
If I knew what the 'RR' logo was it would make more sense IDing it. I tried looking online for different logos with an RR but none match that style.
Could it be an RHR'? an H in the middle? I don't know....
Any help is appreciated...
