Went out hunting today and posted the finds on Todays finds. This item I wanted to see if anyone can give me an idea of what this case was used for, the age and would this be at a home site. It is about the size of a 50 cent piece, and about 1" thick. It does have a hinge on it also. This was found in area where there was plenty of old brick. Hope this helps with the identification.

Thanks,

Nice find! Looks like a ladies rogue container. Found one about the same size last week. Mine had writing on it so it was easy to look up.
Good luck with the ID.

It looks to be an "Egyptian Revival" item, and could be mid 19th, or early 20th century. Possibly a compact or maybe a snuff box.... or something else even.
